It was really a precious time for me to study English at IIA. Although I stayed here for just 6 weeks, I felt the IELTS course helped me a lot. Emma and Susan are very good and experienced teachers and I was very happy to be instructed by them. During this period, they helped me correct my pronunciation and writing skills. The content taught in the class was very useful for me, especially for doing the IELTS test. The accessory textbooks in the Resource Center also did a big favour. I thought my decision was right. Besides plenty of course content, I loved the extracurricular activities, such as Talk Shop, BBQ’s, picnic and workshops, which were beneficial for improving daily communication. Moreover, my homestay family was very friendly and helpful for improving my English because my home mother always spoke to me and corrected my pronunciation and spelled new vocabulary for me. She was also good at cooking and I really enjoyed my stay with them. Lastly, I would like to talk about the English Only policy, which was very difficult for me at first. However, this helped me overcome the fear of speaking English to foreigners and in doing the speaking task. I strongly recommend my friends or people in my home country to choose IIA to study at, for here you learn more than you expect you will.

My name is Jeff, from Taiwan. I would like to tell you about IIA.
This was my first time to go studying overseas. When I was in Taiwan, an agent suggested I study here. My wife & I choose IIA because we have planned to take advanced study in a Queensland university. We need to improve our English level.
I think that I definitely learnt lots of useful techniques and strategies and real Australian English from my teachers. I feel the IELTS test was easier than the first time, even though I only spent six weeks studying English for IELTS in IIA. This might result from IIA being a pure English Only school and studying hard. I believe that my teachers and IIA, especially the resource centre, did me a big favour.
Here are a few suggestions for other students. First of all, take enough time, such as 12 weeks for studying English - then you learn even more detail and practice more. Secondly, if it is possible, try to live in homestay. You will have more chance to speak and listen with them. Finally, don’t just learn and read from books and class. You can go shopping or just look around in stores, big shopping centres and even tourist attractions. It will help lots for your English learning.
I appreciate my teachers and IIA. It is worth studying here.

Wu Po-Jui (Rick) from Taiwan studied General English and IELTS Direct exam preparation at IIA.
First I want to thank IIA and the teachers who helped me to achieve my goal. Doing the IELTS preparation course really helped me a lot. We did a lot of practice and learned many useful strategies on the course. Though it was quite hard to do, listening, reading, writing and speaking every day, I felt really happy working with my teachers and classmates.
Living in a homestay also provided me with the chance to talk with native speakers; it improved my listening and speaking skills.
Practice is essential for preparing for the IELTS test. For me, writing was my weak point in English. So I focused on improving my writing. I wrote 2 essays nearly every day and took them to the teachers in the Resource Centre. They marked the essays for me and gave me advice. It was not easy. At first it took me hours to write an essay, but I progressed gradually by practice and improved my writing score.
Using the Resource Centre is very important. There is lots of books and useful information and the IELTS information provided chances to do extra practice and helped me to get used to the style of the IELTS test.
